St Edwards C of E Primary School
Years 2 and 3 Youth Club
Miss. Baddley and Mrs. Taylor are starting this youth club every Thursday 6 – 7pm. The cost is £1 which includes a drink and a biscuit. This is intended to be a fun evening with lots of games and activities and to help children develop their social skills.
Clothes Recycling
Don’t forget to bring in your filled yellow clothes bags for recycling – they need to be in by Monday 1st February. We have some spare bags in the office.
Home Access Grant
Home Access is a government drive to get more families using computers and the internet at home. They provide grants to buy computer and internet packages for the whole family to learn safely, have fun together and achieve more. Swimming
Swimming Team Training for Years 5 and 6 is on Friday mornings at 8.30am.
Year 4 swimming is on a Friday afternoon – please ensure children bring their swimwear to school.
Year 5
Year 5 children are going to be making wind chimes. If anyone has any empty plastic bottles, yoghurt pots, metal coat hangers, old CD’s, metal bottle tops, small stainless steel bells, etc. please send them into school. Thank you.
Fire Service
The Fire Service are coming into school on Thursday to speak to Reception children.
Castleton Children’s Centre
The free ‘Stay and Play Sessions’ are here at St. Edward’s School every Wednesday morning 9am-10.15am. These sessions are really well attended and there are lots of activities for the children to do.
Music Lessons
Fees for this half term are £13.50. Please also pay any outstanding fees as soon as possible. These fees need to be paid in order for children to continue with their lessons. Thank you.
Dinner Money Please send dinner money in on a Monday morning in an envelope with your child’s name and class on. Lunches are £1.70 per day - £8.50 per week. Thank you.
School Photographs – Reception and Year 6 only
School photographs are being done for Year 6 and Reception children only on 25th February. If anyone would like younger children to be photographed with their child, they need to be at school by 8.30am on that day. If you do not wish your child to have their photograph taken you need to notify school.
Retirement
Mrs. Woodall, one of our lunchtime supervisors is retiring at half term after around 30 years of service at St. Edward’s. We are making a collection and if anyone would like to make a donation, please send it into the school office. Thank you.
Year 6 Science We have a teacher in school from Matthew Moss school every Thursday delivering science to Year 6 children, alongside our teachers.
Staff Changes
Mrs. McGovern, our Deputy Head and Reception teacher, is taking a sabbatical year out from February half term. Mrs. Jackson will be returning from maternity leave and taking her Reception class. Miss. Pierce will be staying with us as our other Reception teacher. We would like to wish Mrs. McGovern all the best for next year and look forward to her return. During this period, Mrs. Prince will be acting Deputy Head. Mrs. Gilbertson will be finishing at February half term on maternity leave. We look forward to seeing her soon with her new baby.
