The cast of RENT have worked hard to be nominated for 'Best Musical in the North West'
Whitworth Amateur Musical and Dramatic Society has kicked off 2010 with a bang – by receiving two nominations from the The National Operatic and Dramatic Association for this years awards.
The nominations are for the society’s production of Jonathon Larson’s RENT. The show was the biggest selling performance in the 46 years that the society has been running and was showcased in June 2009.
The nominations are for the ‘Best Musical in the North West’ and ‘Best Director’ for the man behind the show, Andy Kelly.
Mr Kelly told Rochdale Online he is 'over the moon,' he said: “I thought the show was very well received but I would think that because I had directed it.
“I think the nomination for ‘Best Musical in the North West’ is great because it recognises everybody who was involved.”
The awards ceremony, described by Mr Kelly as the ‘mini-Oscars takes place in May at the Hilton Hotel in Blackpool.
