Cruel thieves target primary school

Date published: 21 January 2010

Cruel thieves stole laptops from a Rochdale primary school.

The burglars broke into Norden Primary School on Shawfield Lane sometime between Friday evening (15 January) and the following Monday morning and stole up to 10 laptops, worth about £300 each.

Police are now appealing to anyone who has information about the burglary to come forward, and are asking anyone who is offered Acer laptops from anyone other than a licensed dealer to contact officers.

Inspector Lin Houldershaw said: "This really is a sickening burglary. To steal computers from a primary school is a very cowardly act and has left the children and staff understandably upset.

"We will do everything we can to find these thieves, and I would ask the public help us to root them out and bang them up.

"They might try to sell the laptops on so please, if you are offered this type of laptop and are suspicious, call us immediately."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Neighbourhood Policing Team on 0161 856 9961, the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, or email rochdalenorthpartnership@gmp.police.uk
