Gunmen raid Middleton bank
Date published: 20 January 2010
Three armed men raided a bank in Middleton last week.
At 2:35pm on Tuesday 12 January, three masked men, armed with sawn-off shotguns, entered HSBC bank on Long Street.
Once inside, the men assaulted two customers and attempted to force their way through the security door.
The men were unsuccessful and left after a few minutes, making off in a silver Citroen C5 with the registration R40 GJA.
All three offenders were wearing dark clothing with balaclavas.
Detective Sergeant Graham Hook said: “Although no money was stolen, these men have left two members of the public traumatised.
“One customer had to be taken to hospital where she was treated for shock.
“We have a dedicated team working on identifying and locating these men and we are determined to bring them to justice.”
