Home Access Grant
Home Access is a government drive to get more families using computers and the internet at home. They provide grants to buy computer and internet packages for the whole family to learn safely, have fun together and achieve more. To find out if you are eligible for a grant visit www.homeaccess.org.uk.
Skip to be Fit
Following Friday’s session, we are now selling skipping ropes with counters on. You can buy these from the school office, price £5.
Swimming
Swimming team training starts again on Fridays at 8.30am.
Year 4 swimming is on a Friday afternoon – please ensure children bring their swimwear to school.
Year 5
Year 5 children are going to be making wind chimes. If anyone has any empty plastic bottles, yoghurt pots, metal coat hangers, old CD’s, metal bottle tops, small stainless steel bells etc please send them in to school. Thank you.
Castleton Children’s Centre
The free ‘Stay and Play Sessions’ are here at St. Edward’s School every Wednesday morning 9am-10.15am. These sessions are really well attended and there are lots of activities for the children to do.
PTA Meeting
Our next PTA meeting is on Monday 25 January at 6.30pm – all welcome.
Farmhouse Breakfast
National Farmhouse Breakfast Week starts on Monday. This will be open to all children at a cost of £1.20 per day. We will be offering a variety of foods including a cooked breakfast, homemade banana cake, cereals etc. On the back of the newsletter is a copy of the menu.
If your child wishes to come to breakfast club next week, you need to fill in the form on the back of the newsletter to indicate which days and choices of food.
Dinner Money
Please send dinner money in on a Monday morning in an envelope with your child’s name and class on. Lunches are £1.70 per day - £8.50 per week. Thank you.
School Meals
We have now implemented our new school meals arrangements, which are going very well and we have had lots of positive comments from the children.
Music Lessons
Fees for this half term are £13.50. Please also pay any outstanding fees as soon as possible. These fees need to be paid in order for children to continue with their lessons. Thank you.
Retirement
Mrs Woodall, one of our lunchtime supervisors, is retiring at half term after around 30 years of service at St. Edward’s. We are making a collection and if anyone would like to make a donation please send it into the school office. Thank you.
Rabbits
We have rescued two new rabbits called Buttons and Flake.

Thank you for your support and understanding whilst after-school club was cancelled during the bad weather.
Year 6 Science
We have a teacher in school from Matthew Moss school every Thursday delivering science to Year 6 children, alongside our teachers.
Student
We have a student from Manchester University starting on Monday on teaching assistant experience. She will be working in Year 5 for two weeks.
