Saint Cuthbert High School
This week’s theme was Forgiveness and the Enterprise capability was Personal Responsibility.
External exams and internal mock exams have taken place again this week. It was great to work with the children from St John’s RC Primary School again on Wednesday, as they learned how to market their school in an advertisement for radio.
It was Year 7 Awards Assembly on Friday and many Year 7 pupils received awards for their efforts during last term. Smart Card winners for last term were Courtney Brady, form 7.3 and Krzysztof Skierniewski, form 7.6. First Prize for last term’s Stars in your Form (for children who have shown kindness and caring to others) went to Viktoria Wolfe, form 7.2 and second prize went to Ryan Griffin, form 7.10. The top three students in each Year 7 form with the most merit marks received a certificate and small prize. Congratulations and well done to you all!
Year 7 pupils also received a letter from Walker House in Manchester, thanking them for the hampers received at Christmas. The hampers were put together by form groups during Advent and were delivered (despite the bad weather) to help homeless people who now access Walker House.
Our school radio station – Amplify – is now in full swing. Pupils can access the station through our school website and can also listen during lunches and break times in year centres. If anyone else would like to be more involved with Amplify, please see Miss Taylor.
Our second Business Breakfast will take place on Friday 5th February at 9am with refreshments available from 8.30am. Members of our local community are invited to join together to identify the needs and strengths of members of our wider community. If you would like to be involved in this initiative, please contact Miss Taylor at school.
A reminder to all year 7 pupils that late detentions and smart card detentions will now be served after school in line with all year groups
The facilities in our Partnership Learning Centre are available for parents and for any Parish Groups who wish to produce resources for church or develop their own learning. Please speak to Louise Moore for details (01706 647761).
Would any parent collecting a child during the school day please report to reception where pupils will wait. Due to health and safety reasons, pupils must not wait at the gate to be collected. Thank you for your support in this matter.
