Oulder Hill School
A reminder that Year 9 Options Evening takes place in school on Wednesday 27 January starting with a presentation in the Theatre at 6.30pm. After the presentation there will be opportunities for you to visit teachers at their stalls to discuss individual subjects. Thank you in advance for attending and supporting your child at this very important time in their school life.
What To Do If Your Child Is Absent From School If your child is absent from school due to illness please can you ring school on the morning of absence on 01706 645522 then dial 2 for pupil absence. If leaving a message on the answer phone please state clearly your child’s name, form and the reason for absence, along with the date of return if known. Alternatively you can send an email to attendance@oulderhill.com. If your child has an appointment he/she will need a letter or appointment card to show at the school office or reception when signing in/out. If your child needs to take time out of school for any other reason this must be done by obtaining an Absence Request Form from the school office or year manager at least six weeks before the intended time required (unless there are exceptional circumstances).
Star Students for Languages As a Specialist Language College we are really proud to celebrate the achievements of out Languages students. Each languages teacher nominated students who worked especially hard last half term. Those nominated received a certificate. A total of 124 pupils received certificates this time. Their names can be found on the Languages blog at oulderhill.edublogs.org
Careers Event for Science
On Thursday 21 January Miss Sykes ran a Science Careers Event for Years 9 - 13. Approximately 50 visitors came into school to man stalls to give science careers advice to our students. Well done to all involved – it was a most successful day.
Leisure and Tourism Trip GCSE Leisure and Tourism students recently went on a wonderful visit to Blue Planet Aquarium at Chester. The group, comprising Oulder Hill and Matthew Moss students, really enjoyed the visit and learnt a lot about the fish and how the marketing activities undertaken at the aquarium attract customers. This information will help them with their coursework. The students learnt a great deal and really enjoyed themselves – they were a credit to both schools they represented.
War Historian
On Monday 25 January Jason King, a World War 1 Historian will be attending school to provide a workshop for Year 9 students. More details to follow.
