Action to keep Rochdale to Buckstones bus moving
Date published: 18 January 2010
Greater Manchester Integrated Transport Authority (GMITA) has stepped in to keep the Rochdale to Buckstones bus service moving.
Bus operator Rossendale announced plans to remove the 435 service but GMITA has agreed to fund the weekday daytime service.
The Saturday service, and some early morning, late afternoon and early evening peak services have been provided with GMITA support since April 2009.
Councillor David White, Chairman of the GMITA Bus Network and GMPTE Services Committee, said: “The 435 is a valuable service that local people depend on, which is why we are providing funding for it to continue in the daytime.
“This is an example of how GMITA can step in to help passengers when a bus service is no longer commercially viable, but is still really important in helping local people get around the local area.”
The 435 operates every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday in the daytime, and passes through Rochdale, Turf Hill, Burnedge, High Crompton, Shaw, and Buckstones.
