'Colourful' performance at Heywood Civic Centre
Date published: 16 January 2010
The Heywood Civic Centre was transformed this evening (Saturday 16 January 2010) as a programme of lively music and contemporary dancing took place.
The Rochdale Music Society hosted the concert performed by an international ensemble called ‘Eclipse.’
The audience filled the hall to not only listen to a collaboration of music performed on harps, recorders, viol, and a flamenco guitar – but to also watch exhilarating flamenco performances.
The concert, titled ‘Spanish Spice’ most certainly spiced up a wintery Saturday night in Heywood.
Guest dancer Natalia Garcia Huidobro created an exciting link between the early music of the folk world of flamenco dance.
Chairwoman of the Rochdale Music Society, Shirley Anne Mitchell, described the performance as ‘very interesting’ she said: “I think the audience have been thrilled with the performance, it is quite unusual but very colourful and exciting.
“The group is made up of seven members and they are superb singers and dancers.”
Committee member Graham Marshall said the performance was delighting, entertaining and refreshing.
