Rochdale man cleared of rape
Date published: 13 January 2010
A Rochdale man has been cleared of raping a woman after it was revealed that she wanted to take part in a group sex orgy.
The judge in the trial of Funsho Bello, 26, of Atherstone, and that of four other men from Bolton, ordered the jury to return not guilty verdicts.
The 24-year-old woman claimed she was gang raped at the Bolton home of one of the men but computer evidence showed that she had earlier entertained the idea of group sex via MSN chat.
She alleged that she had agreed to have sex with one of the men but was raped by the others.
The prosecution elected not to submit evidence at the trial following the emergence of the MSN conversations.
