Parents and their work which is now on display in Meanwood Children’s Centre.
Parents from Meanwood Sure Start Children’s Centre are proudly displaying 2010 calendars and family photos after brushing up on their computer skills at the IT suite at Rochdale Football Club.
The 12 week course started in October thanks to joint work between Meanwood Children’s Centre and Playing for Success.
Parents went to the IT suite at Spotland Study Centre to learn new computer skills and learn how to use different programmes. By December, parents had produced personalised calendars with photos to take away.
The group, with a little help from Playing for Success centre manager, Ian Andrews also designed and created some photograph collages of the children in the sessions, which are now being displayed in Meanwood Children’s Centre.
Parent Empowerment Worker for Meanwood Children’s Centre, Tracie Taylor said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our parents to work out in the community at a venue they may otherwise never have accessed.
“The support and encouragement given to the parents from Ian and his staff has been fantastic and the photographs displayed in the children’s centre have been a great talking point. We are hoping to link up with Ian again in the future.”
