Labour leader calls for Council officers to take to the streets
Date published: 11 January 2010

Councillor Colin Lambert is calling for Council officers to take to the streets during the current cold snap.
The leader of the Rochdale Labour group of Councillors has called on the Chief Executive of the Council, Roger Ellis, and other senior officers to leave their offices and help front line services on the streets as they battle the snow and ice.
Councillor Colin Lambert pointed to the example being set by executives at Rossendale Council, who have been out in their area helping with bin collections.
Councillor Lambert said: "I set the challenge for senior officers of the council to get out from behind their desks and join the front line services to help clear the back log of bin collections.
"Let’s all work together to clear the back log and at the same time visit our elderly residents to ensure they have what they need during this prolonged extreme weather."
