Healey Primary School - Snow Update

Date published: 08 January 2010

The forecast for the weekend is that the cold weather will continue with a possibility of snow showers starting again on Sunday through Monday.

There is no intention of closing the school, as we believe we have coped this week and cannot foresee conditions being much worse than those we have already dealt with. Lessons will be continuing as normal with the only alteration being assembly which is moving to the very start of the day to allow staff coming a distance a little longer if traffic is disrupted. We are also trying to close the After School Club by 4.30pm to allow staff to leave – however if you need your child to stay later please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Taylor at the school.

The message to you all is to walk if possible, the side roads up to school are treacherous, and double parking on Thursday and Friday created very dangerous risks to residents and school users.

School meal supplies have reached us with only one failed delivery and Mrs Proctor has assured us that we are well able to cater for most, if not all of the week. If children need to bring a packed lunch you will be informed well in advance.

NEXT WEEK:

School will be open unless there is severe deterioration in the weather
Text alerts will continue to go out if there are any changes
Dance Club on Monday is cancelled
Year 3 Healthy Lifestyle is going ahead (so far)
There is no After School Club at all on Tuesday due to staff training
School meals are being provided

Please enforce the snow ‘rules’ with your child. We cannot allow snowballing or slides.

Finally, many thanks to everyone who has helped this week and to the parents who have written glowing letters and emails about how the school has stayed open. Particular thanks must go to Mr Greensmith (and his son Oliver) who have time and time again cleared the drive and paths and gritted over and over. Also Mrs Proctor who has managed the kitchen and Mrs Kershaw who has opened the school on time every morning in spite of frozen locks and frozen shutters.

Have a good weekend.
