Middleton among the best for sport and leisure
Date published: 08 January 2007
Middleton’s leisure centre remains in the top 20 per cent of leisure facilities in the country after retaining its Quest status.
Quest status means that the centre, which includes the swimming baths, has passed a series of rigorous inspections and has to plan ahead to make sure they continue to pass inspections to come.
What it means for visitors is improved facilities and services to make sure that people get the best out of their visits and keep coming back.
The Council’s Lead Member for Leisure, Councillor Ted Flynn, said: “This is excellent news for Middleton and demonstrates the commitment and hard work of all management and staff at the pool and sports centre.
“I would like to congratulate everyone involved in retaining Quest status and I know they will continue to do their best to make sure that visitors to Middleton’s pool and sports centre will be offered the best facilities available.”
Peter Jackson, the Council’s Sport and Leisure Manager, said: “Thanks to hard work and effort by all managers and staff over recent months, Middleton has managed to not only retain its status, but also to significantly improve in all areas. Congratulations and well done to everyone involved.
“Quest will again inspect the centres in the months ahead as part of the continuing assessment and our aim is to look to improve our score further.”
There’s also good news for Heywood Sports Centre and the Central Leisure Centre in Rochdale, as each centre has gained Quest status for the first time.
