Waste and recycling collections
Date published: 07 January 2010
All waste collection and bulky household collection services have been suspended this week due to the adverse weather conditions. At present, the Council plans to resume collections next week (from Monday 11 January).
Residents are asked to check their waste collection calendar to make sure they put out whichever bin is due for collection from 7am on the correct day. Residents who haven't got their collection calendar to hand or are not sure which bin to put out, should call 0845 226 1800.
If you live in the following areas, the council will attempt to collect refuse bins (no recycling) in the following areas on Monday 11 January. This is due to the large volume of refuse bins in these areas that could not be collected on Saturday 2 January as planned due to the poor weather conditions.
• Hamer
• Littleborough
• Milnrow
• Newbold
• Newhey
• Smallbridge
• Smithy Bridge
• Wardle
A spokesman for the council said: “Across the borough, we're likely to have high volumes of waste - so if we've not collected your bin on the scheduled date please do leave it out and our collection crews will try and empty it the following day.
“We're aiming to get all outstanding waste and recycling collections back on schedule by Saturday 23 January at the very latest.
“We're really sorry about the inconvenience caused and will do our best to empty your bins as soon as we possibly can. Thanks for your patience.”
