Pavements gritted to help shoppers
Date published: 05 January 2010
The pavements on Drake Street in Rochdale have been gritted to help shoppers after more snow fell overnight.
Yesterday, (Monday 4 January) Rochdale Online reported how a lack of grit on the pavements was becoming a problem for pedestrians.
Business owners on Drake Street complained in December that the pavements had not be gritted in front of their shops like they had been in other areas of the town centre, including Yorkshire Street.
The Christmas period, which would normally be booming for these shops, appeared to be slow moving and the weather certainly had an effect on people doing their Christmas shopping.
Now the pavements have been gritted, business is getting back to normal for the shops on Drake Street.
