Drivers warned to take extra care on icy roads
Date published: 03 January 2010
With temperatures reaching as low as minus six overnight and unlikely to rise above minus two during Monday, commuters are advised to take great care on the Borough's roads.
Council gritters have been at work but conditions on roads remain treacherous. Remember that local conditions, such as bends and overhanging trees, can mean that road surfaces may need you to drive with extra care even after they have been treated with salt.
Drivers are advised in particular to leave sufficient distance between vehicles so that they can brake and stop safely.
The Met Office, having issued a severe weather warning, is predicting the very low temperatures will continue for the rest of the week.
