Man charged after officers attacked

A man has been charged after police officers were threatened with a knife in Rochdale.
John Knight (born 17/10/90) of no fixed abode, was charged with affray, assaulting a police officer and possessing an offensive weapon.
He appeared before Rochdale Magistrates Court on Monday 28 December 2009.
The charges relate to an incident shortly after midnight on Sunday 27 December 2009. Officers were called to Lloyd Street following a report of a wanted man being seen.
As they attended, a man attacked them with a knife but the officers managed to disarm him.
One of the officers suffered a sprained wrist.
