Local bands chosen to play at National Festival
Date published: 30 December 2009
Five bands from Rochdale Music Service have been invited to take part in the prestigious National Festival in Birmingham next year.
The bands, chosen from over 100 entries, qualified to enter following their success at the regional band festival held in November and will share the stage with the best groups from all over the British Isles.
Richard Charles from Rochdale Borough Council Music Service said: "This is very exciting news as we thought that we may have two bands through but this is the first time that we have ever had all five of our entries invited. Following our success at the regional festival it’s another example of the music service ‘punching above its weight’ on a national stage."
