Porch collapse in Milnrow
Date published: 25 December 2009
The Fire and Rescue Service attended a collapsed car porch at Townley Road, Milnrow yesterday morning (Christmas Eve). The weight of the snow had pulled down the porch and left a large part of the brickwork exposed. The Fire and Rescue Service attended and made the scene safe by cutting up the porch using a Makita Saw and weatherproofing the exposed brickwork by plastic sheeting.
Watch Commander Angus Robinson said: “This was an unusual incident that could have caused serious injury for the occupants of the house. Fortunately, they took the right action in contacting the Fire Service and we spent over an hour making the building safe.”
The Fire Service recently launched their safe for winter campaign:
Which advises householders of the dangers of the more common types of incidents that the Fire and Rescue Service attend over the winter period.
