Fun in the snow
Date published: 23 December 2009
The deep snow may cause problems for the town's drivers and pedestrians but we should not forget the fun that can be had with snow, children in particular find snow magical.
On the Chesham Estate in Castleton, like many estates in the borough, children have been having fun in the snow; the photos show snowmen built by Emma Lord and 7-year-old Tyler Hughes. Emma says: "It all seems to be about criticism of the gritters and the bins not being emptied. But we should realise that the snow is good fun for the children, and some adults. I have spent many hours in the garden with my friend's little boy building and dressing up the snowmen, and having snowball fights with each other and having fun."
The town's parks have also been full of families having fun; Springfield Park, the park the Council wants to turn into a golf driving range, has seen squeals of delight as children and adults sledge down the hill, some even improvising with black bin bags.
