Man hospitalised in car crash

An elderly man is in a serious condition in hospital after he was hit by a car.
The 89-year-old was crossing Manchester Road just before 3.10pm on Friday (11 December) when he was knocked to the ground by a blue Toyota Corolla.
An ambulance was called and his injuries were not believed to be serious but, following further examination, he was found to have a fractured hip and a head injury.
He remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
