Delhi Deli opens its doors

Date published: 10 December 2009

The Mayor of Rochdale officially opened Delhi Deli, a new take-away on Whitworth Road.

The take-away specialises in Peri Peri chicken and is the only place in Rochdale to offer the dish, made from imported ingredients.

The Mayor, Councillor Keith Swift, had a taste of what was on offer.

Mayor Swift said: “It is good to see another investment in Rochdale which has created five jobs for people at a time when jobs are hard to come by.

“The resilience of Rochdale communities bodes well for the future as we start to come out of the recession.”

The owner of Delhi Deli, Mr Raja Miah, has worked hard over the last few weeks to get the business off the ground, he said: “It has been a very busy three weeks but that is because we have such high standards we want to build up a reputation and become established and then hopefully there will be the possibility of opening more branches."

Mr Miah, was made redundant from his position as a car salesman and felt he must do something about it. He decided to follow in the footsteps of his Uncle who owns a Delhi Deli shop in Gloucester. He said: “I am really up for the challenges  running this business has to offer, it is a 24 hour job and I am enjoying it a lot.”
