The number of arrests made this morning as part of Operation Admiral II, Greater Manchester Police's pre-Christmas crackdown, has totalled 33 so far in Rochdale.

Co-ordinated raids are today (Wednesday 9 December) being carried out over 24 hours, hunting down criminals who have outstanding warrants.

Designed to ensure the people of Rochdale have a merrier Christmas, the raids are chiefly targeting those wanted for theft, burglary and robbery offences.

Greater Manchester Police's Assistant chief constable Terry Sweeney said: "This operation is an early Christmas present for the people of Greater Manchester.

"Everyone's work is really paying off and you can see by the number of arrests we've made so far how successful this operation has been.

"We've had a fantastic response from the community, their support and feedback is really helping us to get the criminals off the streets of Greater Manchester."
