Redwood School
Early in January 2010 we will be arranging for members of Play4U to come and speak with parents on the plans for the development of holiday clubs for our young people during 2010 using the facilities at Redwood. Discussions are at an early stage but we feel optimistic that we will be able to offer some holiday provision during 2010.
The School Council meeting discussed the following issues: Healthy Schools meeting feedback, what pupils want on the new website, charities we support at Redwood, Christmas plans and activities, The Big Listen – feedback from Ryan. As ever the members were very enthusiastic.
Many thanks to everybody who supported Children in Need. 6th form Maths classes counted the amount raised at £238.41. Thank you!
The Christmas Fair took place this week with various stalls and games. There was a Santa penalty shoot-out, hook a duck and much more. Thank you for those that supported us.
A cyclist came in to school to answer questions from year 11. The PE group found out that he was a speedway cyclist and that he was just 15 years old.,The cyclist told year 11s all about his diet, training programme, competitions and the medals he had won.
It seemed that cycling wasn’t the only sport he was good at. He showed off his basketball skills, sinking baskets as he played in matches in the PE class. We all wish this young and budding star all the best for the future and hope he can come and visit us again with yet more medals.
Please note that Redwood School will close early for students on Friday 18 December. Home school transport will collect the students from school at 2pm.
