A new high tech youth bus has been launched for the young people of the borough to use.

The Youth Service Mobile Unit was officially opened today by Jack Lofthouse, Member of Youth Parliament.

The bus is packed with state of the art technology including games stations, flat screen TV’s, and computers with internet access and it will be used to deliver programmes in areas where there is limited or no access to youth facilities.

In the opening ceremony Mr Lofthouse said: “I am very happy and very proud to be in Rochdale and part of the Youth Service Mobile Resource that I know will bring lots of opportunities, information and things to do for the young people of the township.

“We as young people are the future and we have a right to be part of the planning and taking part in brilliant events like this one today.”

Councillor Mohammed Sharif, Cabinet Member for Regeneration helped to obtain the funding for the bus, he said: “This day is a long awaited dream which has finally come true. It is the best Christmas present for the young people of the Rochdale borough. I hope they utilise this gift and all its facilities.”

The Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale attended the opening, and had a look around the bus. Mayor Swift, said: “It is a pleasure to be here today and I am pleased to see young people involved. This is now the third youth bus and it isn’t the end, it is a step along the way.”
