Date published: 30 November 2009
A GP that was suspended from working at Longford Street Surgery in Heywood in July 2006 has earned £400,000 whilst waiting for his disciplinary hearing.
The hearing of Dr Eamon Mooney is due to take place this week, more than three years since he was suspended from the Heywood practice.
He is accused of working as a locum in Liverpool and Stockport while on sick leave and for failing to provide the right care for 12 patients.
By the end of last year the doctor had been paid almost £310,000 despite having been suspended for two and a half years.
His case will be heard in Manchester by the General Medical Council and is expected to last for a month.
