Man injured in hit and run

A man has suffered broken ribs and a head wound in a hit and run collision in Middleton.
The 56 year old was crossing Oldham Road when he was struck by a dark coloured vehicle travelling northbound.
The car failed to stop at the scene.
The man is in a stable condition after requiring 25 stitches for his head injuries, police said.
Witnesses to the collision or anyone who knows the whereabouts of the car involved or its driver are asked to call the Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 8809.
