Made in Rochdale Trade Fair

Date published: 06 March 2007

Rochdale Town Hall played host to dozens of local women entrepreneurs showcasing their businesses at the second Made in Rochdale Trade Fair organised by the Women into Enterprise project on Tuesday 6 March.

The exhibitors spanned a range of sectors including survival skill training, finance, web design, hotel and catering, beauty and holistic therapies and innovative portable shower systems.

Opening the Trade Fair Mayor, Councillor Jean Hornby said: "This show and the Enterprise Network’s ethos very much ties in with the ‘Buy Local Spend Local’ concordat that the council has just signed up to. We are trying very hard to support local supply chains, etc. It’s pleasing to note therefore that the business women here are also developing their own supply chains with each other, through the creation of the ‘Rochdale Women’s Network’."

Keynote Speaker, business woman Lisa Tse, voted Outstanding Individual of the Year by Marketing Manchester in 2005, said: “My award was a personal and professional boost. It helped me build a broad network of contacts from local and central government to the media, and services like the Women into Enterprise Network help to do that too. I am keen to share my own success story with others and hope that in some way, my tale and the challenges we faced as British Chinese will inspire these fledgling business women to realise they can do it too.”
