Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale PCT - Nursing Times top 100

Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale PCT is one of the Country’s top nursing employers it was revealed by the Nursing Times.

HMRPCT emerged in the top 100 because it could prove that the organisation offers a strong nursing leadership, flexible and family – friendly employment practices, openness and the ability to listen to staff.

The survey provides real feedback from employees on what they value from the organisations they work for.

The survey confirmed that the PCT ‘values its staff highly. Nurses from across the various community disciplines feel their views are welcomed and that good work attracts positive praise.’

Other notable commendations from HMRPCT nursing staff included their appreciation of support for career development and family friendly policies and arrangements.

Sue Hamilton, Head of Human Resources said: “The greatest asset to the PCT is its staff that is why we are keen to invest in training and professional development, improving access to careers advice and committed to developing Human Resources practices.”

Susan Savage, Professional Nurse Lead added: “We realise that a happy workforce is a loyal and productive workforce that is of ultimate benefit to the patient. We strive to ensure the patient’s experience of the NHS in the care of our nurses is generally a pleasurable one.

“I am delighted that HMR PCT has been recognised as being such a good place to work by our staff and we are proud to be included in the Nursing Times Top 100 Employers.”

The PCT was assessed on issues such as equal opportunities, family-friendly policies, flexible working, facilities, level of staff involvement, training and development alongside mentorship and induction. Postal questionnaire were given to HMRPCT employees to find out their views and even phone interviews took place to validate the results.

The Improving Working Lives initiative is embedded into the PCT culture, offering flexible working hours, support with caring responsibilities and rewarding long and loyal service. Whereas the Life Long Learning Team make sure the PCT offers all its employees the opportunity to enhance their skills and develop their careers.
