Deeplish Primary School

Deeplish Primary School.
As usual, an action packed week at Deeplish Primary School! We have an excellent relationship with our local high schools and this time it was the turn of Balderstone High School to help with the Design Technology in one of our Upper Years classes. Mrs Roberts’ class travelled to the high school and made soup and sandwiches which they ate for lunch. They then made their own bread and designed the packaging for it. What a busy day! Thank you Balderstone School staff, as usual you were brilliant!
“Sorry” was the featured word in M6 theatre’s stimulating performance entitled “One Little Word” to Foundation and Key Stage 1 children this week. During this, children through dance and drama, learned about friendship, playing and sharing with each other.
All of our Year 3 and 4 children visited Touchstones Museum as part of their History topic where they learned about life in Ancient Greece. They wore Greek clothes, found out about food and took part in a Greek drama. They also learned about Democracy and how to make decisions using the democratic process.
Miss Bates, Miss Schepers, our French language assistant, and four year 5 children went to St Peters Primary school this week to take part in the continuing Community Cohesion Project. The theme was languages and each of our four children has a different first language which, if you counted the two members of our school staff, made six different languages from our school alone!
Spots everywhere! What on earth was going on? Was everybody ill? No, children and staff dressed in spotty clothes and had their faces painted for “Spotty Friday” to raise money for Children In Need. Thank you everyone for your efforts. Still to come are the Teddy Bear Raffle, Bric-a-Brac sale and the results of Gary’s Golden Goal, before we have a final total of money raised.
Parents Week started on Friday. Deeplish School is welcoming parents in to school to watch assemblies and lessons. So far we have had a lot of interest in these very informative and enjoyable sessions.
Attendance Awards this week went to Mrs Akhtar’s and Mrs Vickers’ classes. Early Birds were Mrs Afzal’s, Mrs Vickers’, Mrs Roberts’ and Mrs Campbell-Starling’s classes.
100% attendance prizes went to Alicia and Abdul, well done! Who will it be next time?
School was closed for Eid on Friday. The Head teacher and staff wish everybody Eid Mubarak.
