Deeplish Primary School

“Water, water, everywhere” or that’s how it seemed to be in school this week! Children and staff were learning all about water, its many uses, its healthy properties and where it could be found during an enjoyable themed week. Children were even making music with it!

Our excellent team of Lunch Supervisors, HALs and JAMs met again this week to discuss any problems each of them were experiencing during the lunch period. Head teacher Ms. Burrow was very pleased to hear that everything is going well and any problems are being sorted out quickly and efficiently. Thank you, all of you.
Our year 2s went to the Wheatsheaf Library during this week, learned about how a library works, how to join and had a story read to them.

Mrs Connell-Howard and her ECO Squad had their first meeting of this school year. Already the children are checking to make sure recycling is being done!

Year 6 children taking pictures of constellations and planets via a Robot telescope in Tenerife? Sounds unbelievable! But no, Bradford University have the said telescope and have come in to school for the second year to show our children, and staff, what it can do. Very exciting!

Mrs Vickers’ and Mrs Isherwood’s classes visited Holy Rosary Primary School in Liverpool on Friday as part of our school’s Community Cohesion Project. Head teacher Ms Burrow also accompanied the group and all had a highly enjoyable day. Children have been writing letters to each other and have already sent photographs, so it was nice to put names to faces. Deeplish School is looking forward to welcoming Holy Rosary School to Rochdale during the Spring term.

Friday afternoon’s achievement assembly was very enjoyable for Learning Mentor, Mrs Davis, as she was given the chance to hand out the certificates and the attendance awards. The children behaved beautifully and as usual couldn’t wait until the attendance awards were announced. Congratulations, Mrs Taylor and Mrs Clayton/Mr Dysch’s classes! You had the best attendance in your Key Stages. Early bird awards went to Mrs Afzal’s and Mrs Vickers’ classes where no children arrived late for school. Well done!
