Bus stop closure

Date published: 12 November 2009

GMPTE will be closing a bus stop in Slattocks on Rochdale Road for a trial period of three months to address long standing concerns about nuisance raised by residents, councillors, and an MP.

The closure will start on 20 November, and will affect services 17, 17A and 719.

Michael Renshaw, Interim Bus & Rail Director, said: “The closure of a bus stop is an extremely rare occurrence, but a number of serious concerns about the location of the stop have been raised by councillors and an MP.

“We do not take the decision to close bus stops lightly, which is why we are closing this stop for a three month trial before making a final decision.

“We will work with the local highways department and bus operators to look at possible measures to address the concerns of passengers and local residents on a more permanent basis, and the closure will be reviewed after three months.”
