Redwood School
Date published: 11 November 2009
You will be aware that one of Redwood`s objectives for the next school year is to further develop the parental partnership within school. This involves listening to what parents and carers have to say and acting on any issues which may arise. We do this through a variety of ways such as home/school planners, annual review meetings, parents evening and meetings and via parental surveys.
During this term I shall be asking parents and carers for your views on many aspects of the school. The timescale for this survey will be:
- Thursday 12 November – Years 7, 8 and 9 Parental Surveys
- Thursday 19 November – Years 10, 11 and The Bridging Course Parental Surveys
- Thursday 26 November – Sixth form Parental Surveys
Please find the time to complete these brief surveys and return them to school during the
next few weeks – your views are crucially important to us.
Ryan B on the Bridging Course has recently appeared with the M6 Theatre Company he will also be performing in Talking Heads in the Spring .
Key Stage 3 were busy last week preparing for bonfire night with various pieces of Artwork. The Lilac Room visited the Shokk gym whilst another group visited the art gallery at Touchstones.
Zoo Lab visited key stages 3 and 4 this week with students given an opportunity to view and handle live insects – more details in the newsletter
Students of the week: Sheraz H, Aqsa, Fahad, sixth form activities have included Industry Day, Various organisations came into sixth form to run workshops regarding the industry they are from. Some of the activities included craft, ice breakers, role play. ICT and even taking a computer apart and re-building it. All students and staff had a great day and are really looking forward to next years Industry Day.
Our first parent partnership workshop took place just before half term and those parents who attended the session had the opportunity to discuss the safe use of the internet at home and in school, and an opportunity to sample the Key Stage 4 Enterprise Zone looking at seasonal cards and jewellery. Our next date is Friday 27 November and the focus will be on how parents and carers can access specialist activities and support through a short break service within Rochdale. This will be relevant to all our families. More details have been sent in the newsletter.
