11 November marked with two minute silence
Date published: 11 November 2009
People in Rochdale paid their respects to those who lost their lives in past wars by taking part in a two minutes silence.
11/11 marks the date that the First World War ended.
Maroons were fired from the grounds of the parish church by the Town Hall to mark the beginning and end of the silence. The silence was observed during a small service near the cenotaph and at other cenotaphs round the borough.
