Beech House School
The under 12’s netball team played against St. Cuthbert’s. Both teams started brightly but St. Cuthbert’s gradually gained control of the game playing some fast flowing netball. Beech House struggled to contain them throughout the first half. A few positional changes where made at half time and as a result Beech House scored a couple of consolation goals in a game they eventually lost 17-2. Player of the day was Rebecca Whittaker.
The under 12 girl’s football team played in the English Schools Football Association 5 a-side tournament. Although the girls lost all their games they performed admirably against some high quality opposition. Player of the day was Henna Akhtar.
In the English Schools regional finals the under 14 boys team of Jack Brook, Harrison Groome, Greg Preston, Daniel Matthews, and James Wright were placed 9th in both the 4 x 2 medley and freestyle relays.
Two teams have been entered into the IFS Student Investor Challenge 2009 – 2010. Each team of four will trade £100,000 of virtual money on the stock market between November and March, competing against teams from all over the UK.
Year 11 Business Studies Team – Tara Sultan, Jason Scales, Georgia Kinder and Saif Ahmed.
Year 10 Economics Team – Chelsea White, Jack Noon, Jack Higginson and Aleem Tahir.
Winners of the overall competition will win an all expenses paid trip to New York.
