Heywood Middleton and Rochdale PCT appoints non-executives

Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Primary Care Trust (HMRPCT) has appointed four new non-executive directors: Marilyn Aldred, David Edwards, Abdul Hamied and Tumsilla Sethi.

Each has been appointed to serve as a Non Executive Director of Heywood Middleton and Rochdale Primary Care Trust for the period 1 March 2007 to 28 Feb 2009. For this appointment they will be remunerated at the rate of £7,500 per annum and will become instrumental in assisting the PCT to meet its challenging agenda in the years ahead.

All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees political activity (if any declared) to be made public. None of the four has declared any political activity in the last five years and do not hold any other ministerial appointments.

Marilyn Aldred was born in Birch Hill Hospital, Rochdale and grew up in the area. Marilyn as many years of community involvement enabling her to take a very active role within the PCT, working very closely and taking a lead role in Patient amp; Public Involvement and Patient Advice and Liaison.

Marilyn previously worked for Rochdale MBC as a Senior Manager of Branch libraries, credit union development worker responsible for developing financial awareness and as a team leader for community service responsible for ensuring user involvement in planning and delivery of services. Marilyn later took up a post as Chief Officer of Salford Advisory Centre responsible for all aspects of running a registered charity providing contraceptive services for young people.

David Edwards was born in North Manchester and educated at Manchester Regional College of Art studying Graphic Design. Initially David worked in advertising and entered the NHS at age 24, as an art therapist, later trained and worked as a psychiatric nurse and trained as a social worker at Manchester University.

Over the last few years David has helped establish Turning Point as a national charity, developing the charity in the North of England, Scotland amp; Wales and extending their work into Mental Health amp; Learning Disability. He retired from Turning Point in 2001 as Executive Director North, when he became the Chair of Heywood amp; Middleton PCT.

Abdul Hamied has 15 years experience of working in the regeneration field; he initially started work within the voluntary sector which led to subsequent senior regeneration within a number of government initiatives. He has in depth knowledge and expertise in developing, managing and implementing strategic plans linked to clear performance targets.

Abdul has been a member of various multi agency and multi sector boards including Rochdale Local Strategic Partnership. Abdul has extensive experience of managing multi million pound programmes and associated resources.

Tumsilla Sethi is currently the Deputy Chief Office of Bury CVS; her role involves the everyday operational responsibilities of running Bury CVS and managing staff working on different projects. Tumsilla currently manages the Healthy Living Initiative on behalf of the Local Strategic Partnership working with Citizens Advice Bureau, Bury FC and The Mosses to establish a long term sustainable strategy; which will leave a legacy once the funding comes to an end in March 2007. 

Tumsilla is also part of the Greater Manchester change up, she is a member of Strand 4 steering group which leads on Equality amp; Diversity.
