£60,000 of cannabis seized
Date published: 28 October 2009
Five people have been arrested and £60,000 worth of cannabis seized after a police raid at Whitworth Road home.
The cannabis and what is thought to be half a kilo of cocaine was been recovered from the house during a raid yesterday (Tuesday 27 October), shortly before 5pm.
Four men aged 18, 20, 27 and 36 years old and a woman aged 24 have all been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A and Class B drugs.
The arrests were the result of intelligence being passed by member of the public to the Rochdale North Neighbourhood Policing Team during the last two months at community meetings.
Inspector Jamie Collins said: "This is a significant seizure and it is thanks to the support of the local area that we have found this.
"We will always act on intelligence and I am pleased to say we have managed to take a large amount of drugs off our streets.
"Drugs can have a devastating effect on local communities and I would urge anyone with information about the sale or use of drugs in their area to tell the police."
Anyone with information should call police on 0161 872 5050 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
