Fashion Show for hospice

Date published: 24 October 2009

Shoppers in the Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre enjoyed a fashion show in aid of Springhill Hospice.

Clothing was modelled from River Island, Bay Trading, D2 and New York Laundry in a bid to remind locals that Rochdale is the place to shop.

Three of the models also danced for the growing crowd of shoppers.

Keith Rudman, who took part in organising the fashion show, said: “Together we want to show locals that we are building Rochdale back up again. We are filling units and together we can make Rochdale bigger and better.

“We chose to use the day to help with fundraising for Springhill Hospice because more or less everybody in Rochdale is connected to their work in some way. We wanted to pick a charity that everybody knows and the hospice is close to many people’s hearts.”

The makeup on the models was provided by various make-up counters in Boots, Team Manager, Chris Doidge, said: “Today has been great. Rochdale is the place to shop and people don’t need to go elsewhere for glam clothing.”

Ian Jenkins, Springhill Hospice Fundraising Manager, said: “We are delighted to benefit from this event. It is great to be able to support our local companies in the way they support us. The models have been fabulous and so were the dancers.”

Anwara Khatun was watching the fashion show with friends, she said: “It is something different for Rochdale and it is really enjoyable.”

Jo Dalton was there with her daughter Lucy, she said: “It has been a really good and it makes a nice change, there should be more things like this in Rochdale.”
