DCSF Teaching Award for Sustainable Schools
It is the national finals of this award in London on Sunday (25 October) and St. Edward’s are one of 16 schools in the final. Mrs Coxell and three members of staff will be attending. This is being televised on BBC2 at 6pm on Sunday. Wish us luck!

Operation Christmas Child
Boxes need to be in by Friday 13 November.

September Intake
Forms for September 2010 Intake are now available at school.

School Meals
The menus are changing slightly for the winter months – there is a copy of the menus on the school portal – you can find them in the newsletter folder. They are on a three-weekly basis and after half term it will be ‘Week 1’.

After half term, for one month, the government, as a trial, are providing funding for school meals for all Reception children. This is a good opportunity for all Reception children to have a hot meal during the month of November at no cost.

Parents Evening
Our Parents Evening will be on Tuesday 3 November from 2.30pm – 6pm (not Reception children).

Music Lessons
Keyboards and percussion - Monday afternoon
Drums – Tuesday lunchtime
Brass – Thursday lunchtime
Guitar – Friday morning

Reception Literacy Meeting/Pyjama Party
On 4 November Reception children and parents are invited to a Ruth Miskin Literacy meeting/pyjama party at 5.30pm. Reception children are invited to come to school dressed in their pyjamas with their favourite teddy and to bring an adult with them. Whilst the adults are at the meeting, the children will have a drink and biscuit and a bedtime story together. Due to numbers, we can only invite Reception children.

Christmas Fair
This year’s Christmas Fair is on Friday 4 December. We will be collecting donations of books, toys, good as new, etc. after half term so next week is a good time to have a clear-out.

St. Aidan’s – Autumn Fair
St. Aidan’s are holding a coffee morning/Autumn Fair in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society on Saturday 7 November 10.30am – 12.30pm. There will be lots of stalls: greeting cards, Christmas cards, tombolas, chocolate lucky dip, books, games, cds, Homebake stall, light refreshments, etc. Everyone welcome - please come along and support this very worthy cause.

Castleton Children’s Centre
The free ‘Stay and Play Sessions’ are here at St. Edward’s School every Wednesday morning 9am-10.15am.
