Charitable council tenants celebrate
Date published: 20 October 2009
Council tenants got together to raise funds for their chosen charity Macmillan Nurses at the recent RBH Celebration and Information Day.
Volunteers held a raffle, tombola and book stall to bump up the cash and together with RBH Chief Executive, Gareth Swarbrick, they handed over a cheque for £387 to Rose Tipton of Macmillan Cancer Support yesterday (19 October).
RBH staff were also able to present tenant volunteer Ken Wilson of Moorclose, Middleton with gifts to celebrate his 90th birthday. Mr Wilson has championed tenants’ rights for many years and serves on several panels aimed at improving services.
Gareth Swarbrick said: “Ken is a longstanding tenant activist and a member of several of our working groups. He brings energy and commitment to everything he does."
