Charity shortlisted for awards

Local charity Home-Start Rochdale Borough has been shortlisted for the Guardian newspaper's Charity Awards 2009.
Home-Start, which works towards the 'increased confidence and independence of the family by offering friendship, emotional support and practical assistance', have been shortlisted alongside 35 other voluntary groups from across the country.
Six winners will be chosen from the shortlist in December and each will receive £1,000, a new computer, advice from the National Council for Voluntary Organisations' consultancy service and media services from the Media Trust.
