Macmillan Coffee Morning
Thank you to everyone who supported our Macmillan coffee morning – we raised £245.43 for this very worthwhile charity.
Year 5 Trip
Year 5 children are going on a trip to the BBC.
Book Fair
The Book Fair will be in the hall before and after school and will run until Tuesday (6 October).
School Visitor
Roger Ellis, the Chief Executive of Rochdale Council, visited us this week and was very impressed with everything that has been achieved in and outside school.
Brandon Bennett and Lloyd Griffiths are going to interview Mr. Ellis at his offices to ask him what he thought about our school. We will let you know when this will be broadcast on Radio Waves.
Contact Forms
Please send contact forms back as soon as possible. We need these forms to update our system in case of emergencies.
Year 6 Transfer Forms
Transfer forms for secondary school need to be brought back into school as soon as possible.
Harvest Festival
We are having a whole school service at St. Martin’s Church on Monday 5 October at 10.15am. Can children please bring donations of tins or packet food. Thank you.
Lunchtime Clubs
Games Club, Knitting Club and sewing clubs have now started again.
Wizard of Oz
We have CDs for sale in the school office of the performance from July.
Health Week
This week has been Health Week and the children have been doing various activities associated with this theme.
School Footwear
Please ensure children wear appropriate footwear for school – for health & safety reasons high-heeled shoes are not suitable.
Morrison’s Vouchers
We are now collecting ‘Lets Grow’ vouchers from Morrisons.
Baby Chinchillas
We have two new baby chinchillas in school.
September Intake
Forms for September 2010 Intake are now available at school.
New Parents Open Day
There is an open day on 15 October at 10am for parents of children starting school next September.
School Meals
There is a copy of the school meal menus on the school portal – they are on a three week rota and this week is ‘Week 2’. You can find them in the newsletter folder on the portal.
Castleton Children’s Centre
[0-5years old]
The ‘Stay and Play Sessions’ are here at St. Edward’s School every Wednesday morning 9am-10.15am – there is no charge for these sessions.
Music Lessons
Keyboards and percussion - Monday afternoon
Brass – Tuesday lunchtime
Drums – Wednesday afternoon
Guitar – Friday
Fees for this half term are £2.60 per lesson or £18.20 for the 7 week term. Thank you.
School Link Book Club
KS2 should have received the latest copy of the School Link Book Catalogue. Please send any orders into your class teacher by Wednesday 7 October.
