Health bosses lunchtime health walk

Date published: 28 March 2007

Too busy to exercise? Not an excuse for the PCT Trust Board who  managed to squeeze in a thirty minute health walk in between meetings.

PCT Trust Board Members that includes the Chairman, Chief Executive and Non Executives donned their walking boots  on Wednesday 28 March.

Thirty minutes of moderate exercise five times a week is the recommended amount that will have real benefits in improving your health.

The walk was led by Volunteer Healthy Walks Leaders, Josie Gerrie and Bill Pheasey originally from Heywood. The trained volunteers lead the party on a thirty minute walk through Wardleworth before returning to Telegraph House at 1.30pm in time to start the formal Trust Board proceedings.

John Pierce, Chairman said: “Many members of our board enjoy walking but are so busy during the week that we find it difficult to fit in the recommended daily amount of physical activity.

“We recognise that a healthy workforce is an efficient workforce and we want to promote the benefit of lunchtime health walking, amongst our staff.”

A programme of led health walks across Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale are advertised in our Walking for Health booklet. To receive your free copy contact the Health Walks Coordinator, Mickey Pearson:
