Council awards are your chance to say ‘thank you’

Lynn Byrne, a library assistant is presented with her trophy by then Mayor, Councillor Robin Parker at last year's award ceremony.
Rochdale residents who have experienced great customer service from any of the council’s workforce are encouraged to recognise their efforts by nominating them for an award.
The council wants to hear about staff who have given exceptional service, done something innovative or impressed you in the way they’ve carried out their job.
Ann Wardle, head of Customer Services at the council, said: “We’re looking for those who go that bit further and deliver an exceptional service. This is your opportunity to let us know when you think we have got it right and really impressed you. These annual awards acknowledge effort and ensure our people are recognised. I urge everyone to consider nominating someone to ensure they get the appreciation they deserve.”
Council Leader, Alan Taylor said the awards are about recognising the valuable contribution that staff make: “Our residents are our number one priority as our customers. We are here to serve the needs of the community and this gives us the opportunity to give praise where praise is due.
"Our staff provide more than 800 types of services for local people, many of which involve regular face to face contact with residents. Whether it's a school dinner lady, someone who’s gone out of their way to assist you, or a gardener who regularly takes the time to check up on an older resident. All of these little things count, and compliments are just as important as complaints in measuring our services to residents, so I hope people will take this opportunity to recognise a job well done."
