Cats compete to become feline superstars
Date published: 23 September 2009
Rochdale's top felines are purring at the prospect of becoming the next face of popular cat food brand Whiskas.
The brand have launched a competition to find a cat to feature alongside its famous silver tabby on packs to be sold nationwide; and five cats from Rochdale have already set the search alight.
Mondo, who is only 19 and a half weeks old and lives with the Hill family in Firgrove, has already impressed the organisers of the competition.
His owner Alison Hill said: "Mondo is an amazing little kitten who is now exploring the outside world. He is absolutely fantastic with our two young children Brooke (4) and Logan (3). He may only be young but he knows what he wants and doesn't want and he eats his Whiskas in no time."
Another stand-out cat from Rochdale is Dusty (in the second picture), but if you think your cat has got what it takes to beat off the local competition, and thousands of other cats nationwide, then it is not too late to enter the competition.
Vicky Halls, a cat behaviourist who is judging the competition, said: "The competition is going to be fierce. We’re a nation of cat lovers and everyone thinks their pet has star quality so we’re looking for a pet that stands out from the rest.”
