Thank you from firefighters after car wash
Date published: 22 September 2009
Firefighters from Heywood, Littleborough and Rochdale are thanking all the people that supported the latest Fire Fighters Charity National Car Wash which took place on Saturday (19 September) at their fire stations.
The total amount raised across Greater Manchester was almost £20,000 for the Fire Fighters Charity which supports firefighters and their families in times of need throughout the UK.
The Charity has three dedicated centres in the UK providing physiotherapy services, rehabilitation and recuperation for both serving and retired Fire and Rescue personnel.
The money raised this weekend will provide support to ensure fire and rescue staff can continue to access these centres.
Deputy County Fire Officer Kieran Nolan said: “The continued support that the Charity receives from members of the public is extremely valued by all within our Service. I would like to extend sincere thanks on behalf of the Fire Fighters Charity to both the public of Greater Manchester and our staff for their outstanding efforts.”
In addition to having their cars washed thousands of people also received Fire Safety advice on the day from fire crews and a number of bookings for Home Fire Safety Risk Assessments were taken.
