A hundred more children on child protection plans

The number of children subject to child protection plans in Rochdale has increased by 95% in the past year, according to latest government statistics.
The Department for Children, Schools and Families figures show that 205 children in Rochdale became subjects of child protection plans in the year ending 31 March 2009, an increase of exactly 100 on 2008's figure.
The figures represent one of the steepest rises in child protection plans in the country, with 41 in every 10,000 children being made subject of a plan, compared with 21 in 2008.
Across the country the numbers of child protection plans has increased by 11% in the past year, with 34 in every 10,000 children in the UK being subject to a plan.
