Hop on a bus for free
Date published: 16 September 2009
One hundred lucky motorists who leave their cars at home for the day will be able to ride the bus for free thanks to a Government initiative.
First Manchester is giving away 100 free bus tickets to drivers for In Town Without My Car Day on 22 September.
Claire Johnson, commercial director for First in Manchester, said: “We’re inviting motorists to change the way they travel for one day to show that taking the bus is a safe, sustainable and cost-effective alternative to the car.
“Even if drivers were to leave their car at home for just one day a week it would make a huge difference to the congestion problems in the city. We hope our free bus tickets will encourage drivers to take part in this initiative and give the bus a go.”
To apply for a free FirstDay bus ticket motorists should email their name and address to yourcustomernewsmanchester@firstgroup.com, or call 08457 88 11 55.
The tickets are valid for travel on 22 September and will be issued to the first 100 people to register their details.
