Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has achieved a Customer Service Excellence certification from the Cabinet Office.
A report into the customer services provided by GMFRS' said that the service was ‘at the forefront in working with hard to reach groups, especially young people’, and showed ‘consistent improvement in performance’ and ‘excellent working relationships with its partners across Greater Manchester’.
The Government developed the CSE to offer all public services a practical tool for driving customer-focused change within their organisation.
Greater Manchester's Fire and Rescue Authority Chairman Councillor James Pearson said: “In these extremely difficult times the public should be confident that the Fire Authority puts the needs of the public of Greater Manchester at the very forefront of all that it does and will continue to do so.
"I hope that the public will join with me in applauding the staff of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service for their enthusiasm for building and improving on the excellent service they provide."
GMFRS received the certificate in recognition of the cross-organisation understanding of and commitment to providing excellent customer service. This had been previously demonstrated by its holding of the Charter Mark, the government’s former standard for customer service.
Chief Fire Officer Barry Dixon said: “I am extremely pleased that the hard work and dedication of our staff has been recognised. Our goal is to provide the high quality service that the public of Greater Manchester rightly expect and this acknowledgement supports that goal."
